From a very early age I loved drawing and I loved paper. Seeing a new piece of unmarked paper, glistening and inviting, evoked an innocent pleasure - one which I still feel today – 50 years on!

 I love to experiment with different writing implements and media combined with exploring letterforms, shapes and patterns. The simple juxtaposition of all these elements in creating a piece of work which is both aesthetically pleasing and emotionally stimulating is a joy in itself.

Using these elements I make small books into unique keepsakes, sometimes using my own poetry and haikus. Larger framed pieces demonstrate my interest in a variety of subjects and media.

 Ideas and inspiration can come from anywhere. From extremes of emotions to simple doodles on the back of an envelope. They can involve hours of detailed layout and design or simply occur unexpectedly. However the latter usually becomes part of the former!

 I am happy to work to commission and to any reasonable scale. I will commemorate a memorable occasion, design your logo or monogram, or uniquely enhance your wall space. Each piece of work is a challenge, a creation or even an expression of you through me.

 I was born in Sheffield and studied Art and Design in both Sheffield and Nottingham, gaining a BA Hons in Fashion Design in 1972.

I am a member of Norfolk Scribes Calligraphy Group, the Calligraphy and Lettering Arts Society (CLAS) and the Society of Scribes and Illuminators (SSI).
