Charles has worked with wood all his life but has lately specialised in wood turning and is on the Register of Professional Turners. He works both with unseasoned British hardwoods and with exotic timbers sourced from specialist suppliers.

Charles designs his pieces taking inspiration from the wood itself and from shapes occurring in other media. His work comes in a variety of sizes from large hollow forms and platters to small intricate bowls. He also makes items for domestic use.

A selection of his work is always available at his studio, which is open most days.
