Maker of the Month

Charlotte Vawden

I have worked for most of my career as a ceramic artist, making high-fired tableware, decorative porcelain, slip trailed earthenware, raku and smoke fired vessels, and large scale figurative work.

My particular interest now is in sculpting the human figure; in the awesomeness of trying to depict it, and the vast potential for expression therein.

I model from life in clay over an armature of steel, then cast into resin from plaster or silicon moulds. Other pieces are constructed from wire mesh, plaster or ceramics.
